My previous inquiry of Oct 12, 2000 is answered. Your concise listing of those killed, missing or injured has helped in researching family history of the Martinez family who perished in the dam disaster. Father, mother, and daughter's bodies were found. Remainder of the children are missing. Through additonal research I was able to get death certificates from the Ventura County Court House on the identifiable remains of the father, mother and daughter. You certainly have a topnotch website with valuable information. Keep up the good work. Wonderful to see this little piece of history. My younger brothers went to school at Piru and of course my sisters and I rode the bus to Fillmore School. This was in the early 60's very good memories of Piru and visits to the Piru Lake in the mountains above for picnics. My Mother worked at the small Libary in Piru. The big house was called the Waring Mansion back then I believe. Beautiful place with bouginvilla vines in fushia along the portico. We lived on Telegraph Road surrounded by orange groves. Wonderful memories. Thank you very much for the tour. E-Mail: segseven29@hotmail.com On Thursday, November 16, 2000 02:30:09 p.m., Linda (Segler) Bailey from Lake Ozark, Missouri, USA wrote...

This brings back thoughts of the best time of my youth. The supplier of the photos and story [Bill Rice] is very special as is his Mom & Dad. They took me in when I was in 7th grade and put up with me until I graduated from high school. At the time I started living with them Bill and I were known as cousins although I think of Bill as the brother I always wanted. I was a troubled kid from the city that got set straight by Bill's Mom & Dad and yes Bill too. Thanks for the help, without it I would more than not be dead or in jail. I love these people, but never have been able to express my feelings to them. I have never really been able to express my feelings verbally but I kind of think they know that. I have rambled too long, photos & story, top-notch stuff to bring back the good old days. This is the first time I have visited this site. I think it's very informative. I originally looked up this site to view my family history. My grandmother was Carmelita Del Valle, daughter of Joesph and Rose in your site of Camulos. Grandmother and her Sister (auntie Marg) Marguerite, and brother (uncle Del) Bernard Del Valle would spend their summers at Rancho Camulos into their teens. They had very fond memories of the ranch. The three of them have sinced passed on, Bernard only in recent months, but their memories will live on! My mother Colleen Markey and I supplied these wonderful photos to the Signal and to the Ventura County Museum.I am glad to see that they have made it as far as they have. I keep them under lock and Key! We hope you enjoy them as much as we do.
