Hello to all, I just wanted to mention that the Saugus School closed early do to the posion toxins coming from the Keyser Corp. Yes it was sceduled to close, but the school closed with media coverage. Family of the Keyser Corp., bought the school and it was forced to relocate 300 to 600 students. I was sent to a school in Canyon Country, bussed there from my home on Bouquet.

I just wanted the whole story to be on this site somewhere ! For cool pictures of or Town, go to Yahoo.com and type in Saugus, Bouquet Cyn. and you'll see nice photos from then and now !

A few thoughts....

Where is CalArts? I attended CalArts in the early '70's and it's history is as much a part of Santa Clarita as is anything else's.

Also,.......I visited the Saugus Cafe in 98. I was soooooo disappointed by it's renovation. The character and soul have been stripped from it. Saugus should have somehow protected it's renovation, or at the very least ask the new owners about doing a resoration returning it to it's original "kitsch" look and feel.

I have a pix of me in front of the Cafe in 85. I'll try and digitize this and send it.

Other than these comments, I love your site....

I grew up in Newhall and remember many parades - including being in a drill team from Peachland Elementary. My mom wrote for The Signal periodically, "A Date with Barbara," and as such I have always enjoyed seeing windows into the past. The Truebloods lived a couple of doors down from us in the Happy Valley area and I & my younger sister often played with their younger children. One of these days, I'll have to go through my Mom's collections of stuff and see if she has more 4th pictures to share.....My husband and I & our 2 girls have been living in the valley for 15 years now and haven't missed a parade!!

I was just interested in Familly crests and found this site... My grandfather died in San Fernando in March of 97' at the age of 102. He lived with us from 1978 to 1996. My father Cenovio DelaCruz Ruiz became parallized on his left side of his body from a series of strokes. My mother could no longer help my grandfather and asked my Dad's sister in San Fernando if she could take him in. She agreed. She had him for 7 months. After the 4th month she sent him to a home for the elderly... It proved to be a bad idea... He was always used to walking to church every day when he lived with us in Mendota, Ca. In San Fernando, he was not allowed to go anywhere. It was very upsetting but I guess my aunt and her three sons thought it was best. He is now layed to rest in the San Fernando cemetary with his wife, my grandmother, Peggy. We miss them very much.

Your pictures really hit home. Thanks for the your website...I will never forget it

Best wishes,

Cenovio Ruiz Jr.
